Brad Pitt goes green for Kiehl's

Brad

Brad Pitt
has teamed up with cosmetics giant Kiehl's to create a sumptuous new Earth-conscious body wash and simultaneously raise funds for eco-friendly causes, thus finally catching up with the smarts of legions of gay men long on board with the skin-saver.

Kiehl's Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser will be available in stores and online starting in October for $16.95 a bottle. The cleanser, packaged in recyclable plastic and made up of all-natural ingredients like aloe vera, coconut, and glycerin, will permanently join Kiehl's already popular line of skin-care products.

While neither the packaging nor the product's promotion campaign will feature the actor's photogenic mug, the bottle's text boasts Pitt's handwriting. "Brad is not a face, he's a partner," Roberta Weiss, Kiehl's senior VP of global marketing told WWD.com. "We shared a vision, to support this new way of thinking -- being more eco-intelligent."

One hundred percent of proceeds from the sales of the body wash will benefit JPF Eco Systems, the nonprofit started by Pitt and Kiehl's to "minimize impact on the environment through thoughtful design,"  which will channel the funds to a variety of green groups. First up? Pitt's own Make It Right organization, which he started last year to hep rebuilding projects in New Orleans.

Passing Judgement: Justin Timberlake on Fashion Rocks; Happy Birthday Tim Gunn!; Money to Burn? $18,000 For a Pair of Jeans; Marc Jacobs Marital Mayham; For Sale: Jil Sander; Vanity Fair's Best Dressed List;

80984963 Photo: Getty Images

Passing Judgment: being that he is headlining the Fashion Rocks concert, it's no surprise to see Justin Timberlake grace this year's FR mag cover--and he is "gracing" with all the svelteness of a high class waiter. [The Cut

A happy belated Birthday to the ever inspiring and always fabulous Tim Gunn!  At 55 he's still working it like he owns it, because he basically does. [AP]

If you have, like $18,000 to blow on just whatever, you can get your very own pair of vintage (and we mean vintage) Levi's from the 1890's that were found in a mine in the Rand Mining District, on the Mojave Desert,. California.  Sounds like a totally legit investment. [Kottke]

Did they or didn't they, did they or didn't they?  In what is likely only a brilliant publicity stunt on Marc Jacob's part, everyone is still guessing whether he wed is three-month Brazilian boyfriend this past weekend.   It's almost too much to handle, but you bet your bottoms I'm going to do my best to keep up. [The Cut]

It looks like someone's shelf life is about to expire; it's being reported that Jil Sander is up for sale.  The label was purchased by a private equity fund in 2006 (which bodes so well for a designer label), but they are claiming fatigue of
"waiting for Jil Sander’s bottom line to match its critical acclaim."  [WWD]

Vanity Fair has just released it's annual best dressed list.  Topping the list of men? David Beckham. Coming in at number two? His bulge. [The Cut]

Prince Charles: Beautician?; Justin Timberlake To Fron Fashion Rocks Concert; Smell This: Love and Luck; Agnyess Deyn Over Stays her Welcome; Adam Lippes Blogs Out; Calvin Klein Returns to NY

81534214 Photo: Getty Images

Making waves across the pond is Prince Charles'--yes, that Prince Charles--five piece organic skin treatment set called Highgrove, named after his estate in Gloucestershire.  It's already widely sold out across the continent, and we hope it works miracles because God knows Camilla's hurting for one. [WWD]

Annoyingly ubiquitous Justin Timberlake will headline the Conde Nast benefit, Fashion Rocks, on September 5th, which is oh-so-coincidentally the start date of NY Fashion Week.  Sounds like someone could use a little lesson in saturation. [Fashionista]

The tattoo-inspired inaugural fragrance launch from Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier was so successful he'll launch a follow up pair of men's and women's fragrances this December.  Nothing like a new scent for the holidays to cover up the desperate smell of alcohol and bitterness. [WWD]

While at first they were glad to get some well-received coverage when Agnyess Deyn fronted for one of their songs, bandmates of Five O'clock Heroes are now getting a little tired of being overshadowed by all the attention her one tune, "Who," is getting.  The model shadow does loom large indeed. [Contact Music]

As if designing clothes isn't time consuming enough. ADAM designer Adam Lippes will launch a blog on his website, shopadam.com.  I'm sure it will be great and all, but never forget where your allegiances lie, bitches...[WWD]

To commemorate the brand's 40th anniversary, Calvin Klein will stage a full-scale menswear show next February during New York Fashion Week.  Normally shown in Milan, it's about time Mr. Klein shed that hoity-toity attitude and came home.  [DNR]

Roberto Cavalli Reveals His Nightclub!; Simon Doonan to Wed; Christian Siriano Unveils on Bluefly.com; Men's Fashion Week in NY; Girogio Armani in a Speedo; Gay Shopping in Provincetown

81437451 Photo: Getty Images

When designers branch out into markets that are hardly their own, it's always fun to see if it's going to be a success or a train wreck.  With that in mind, who's not excited to see the mock-ups of Roberto Cavalli's new dance club in Dubai?  The rendering looks cheap, and we don't see any animal print in the interior decoration!  Honestly, Roberto--abandoning you morals so quickly? [The Cut]

Simon Doonan and longtime partner Jonathan Adler will tie the knot in California in mid-September.  Ever the quipster, Doonan is foregoing a big bash, saying "I always thought we were married, so I don’t feel like celebrating the fact that the government’s allowing me to think I’m married. It’s more like paying a parking ticket.” A long, long overdue parking ticket, sir. [The Cut]

Christian Siriano, everyone's favorite androgynous pixie, has unveiled his new line on Bluefly.com as part of his winning package from last season's Project Runway.  It's cute stuff if you need to suggest a few things for the drab hag in your life, and each piece has Siriano-esque names such as "Posh" (who is one of his biggest supporters) and "Transylvania."  As long as there's no "fierce" I'm fine. [NYT]

Men's Fashion Week is underway in New York, and I'm sitting here blogging about it rather than sitting there watching....which was not the case last year...excuse me while I make a few calls.  [Material Interest]

In case you were wondering, Girogio Armani wears a speedo.  You go, girl! [Socialite Life]

Mike Albo goes on a gay shopping adventure in Provincetown for The International Herald Tribune...and doesn't make it much farther than Marc by Marc Jacobs. [IHT]

Yohji Yamamoto's Diffusion Line Hits Stores; (Capsule) New York Bows; Ashton Kutcher for Pepe Jeans; Thermochromatic Shirts Are Back; Tumi Gets Rugged; The Newest Fashion Powerhouse; Gay Romance on Project Runway?

80824131

Photo: Getty Images

Having waited a year for Yohji Yamamoto's diffusion line, Coming Soon, we can now stop fretting our perfectly coiffed heads and finally get our hands on a few of the pieces that have hit NYC store Odin. It's been a limited roll out thus far, but expect to see more pieces hit more stores by 2009.  [The Cut]

The (Capsule) New York trade show is going on now in New York, alluding to a few items we'll all likely be wearing next spring (because we are so ahead of the curve, you know). [Material Interest]

Ashton Kutcher is getting back to his modeling roots in the Pepe Jeans Fall ad campaign.  Yes, funny can be sexy, but a hot man in nice clothes is always sexy. [Towleroad]

Not long ago your Stylelist reported the looming (re)trend of thermochromatic t-shirts (that's Hypercolor for all you 80's kids).  Well, never ones to miss out on a hipster trend, American Apparel has their own version for only $34!  Now all I need to do is dig around in my closet for those acid-washed jeans of mine...[Fabsugar]

Tumi is expanding its T-tech line with a full outerwear and bags.  Perfect, because a wrinkle-resistant cotton blazer is just what my monthly camping trips have been missing. [DNR]

Renzo Rosso, the big guy behind Diesel, has acquired a major stake in darling Dutch design team, Viktor & Rolf. A huge merger to say the least, the possibilities are exciting, as long as Rosso doesn't get to carried away with the overly-edged Diesel aesthetic. [WWD]

Have Daniel and Wesley of this season's Project Runway found themselves in their own runway romance?  According to their MySpace pages, they just might have. [Towleroad]

How to Buy A Leather Jacket; Madonna Loses Her Fashion Edge; Rockports Get Rebooted; Guess? Upgraded

81208420 Photo: Getty Images

Even if you're not the leather type in the bedroom, every guy should own a stylish leather jacket. Here's how to find the perfect one! [GQ]

Once daring, provocative and iconic, it's being claimed that Madonna and her latest fashion trends are safe and just plain blah.   It's like saying God can no longer perform miracles. [NYT]

You know Rockport shoes, right?  The kind your guidance counselor or pediatrician wore?  Well, in an effort to update their clientèle, the footwear brand is rolling out a younger, hipper line, and, to be honest, they're not that bad. [Material Interest]

Guess? may always be synonymous with denim, but with the launch of their upscale Black Label this September, they're hoping to change that.  It might sting a little bit to wear a suit with a Guess? label, but, take it from someone who has seen the collection, it looks pretty good. [DNR]

Smell This: Wolfgang Joop; dVb Drama Contiues!; Hedi Slimane to Design His Own Line?; Thom Browne's Ankles Draw Stares; Garrett Neff Will Show You His Calvin's ; The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Nominees

74968200

Photo: Getty Images

After a seven year hiatus from the scent business, Wolfgang Joop announced he will release a new fragrance in the fall.  It will have notes of coriander, vetiver, sandalwood, cinnamon, and patchouli, meaning you'll smell minty fresh.  [WWD]

They're in, they're out, they're in, and now, officially, they're out.  L.A. boutique Kitson finally got their story straight and said they are dropping Victoria Beckham's men's denim line from dVd because of poor demand.  In related news, they are also dropping Lauren Conrad's line as well, but, honestly, who didn't see that coming? [The Cut]

Hedi Slimane is mulling over his fashion comeback and it could involve--wait, are you ready?--his own menswear line!  I think I just peed a little...[The Cut] via [WWD]

Thom Browne apparently ruffled some conservative feathers when he wore his signature highwater pants to a reception at the White House hosted by Laura Bush for the winners of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards.  One witness said he drew "more than a few stares," especially from guardsman. It's always fun to watch the righties squirm, isn't it? [WWD]

Perma-hottie Garrett Neff is starring in Calvin Klein's new underwear campaign.  Though David Beckham he isn't, he's still just delicious. [British Vogue]

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Nominees were announced yesterday, and among the ten were a few menswear designers: Richard Chai; Alejandro Ingelmo; John Patrick of Organic; and Swaim and Christina Hutson of Obedient Sons.  Remember those names, boys.  [Material Interest]

No Love For Posh's Men's Denim Line; Marc Jacobs--Denied!; Hedi Slimane The Muse; Showing Some Ankle the Right Way; Alexander McQueen Online

81693115Photo: Getty Images

Despite the continued success of Rock n' Republic denim, it turns out retailers aren't quite as excited about Victoria Beckham's men's line from her other denim collection, dVb.  Retailers are unwilling to stock the baggier, more casual denim because of poor sales and her shoddy promotions.  Put her husband in those jeans with an oiled body and no shirt--we'll pick up a few pairs then. [This Is London]

Marc Jacobs rolled into the 303 Gallery in Chelsea apparently looking "scruffy and homeless," according to the employee who asked him to leave when he didn't recognize him.  Though Jacobs left without any hoopla, the poor low-level staffer was fired on the spot when the owner found out. [NYP]

While Hedi Slimane has always been a muse of sorts for us, he is now the inspiration behind the debut issue of Vogue Homme in Japan.  However, it doesn't stop there.  Not only is the 20-page spread being modeled after his own skinny boyish type model, but he is also photographing the whole thing for the magazine. Does this man ever stop? (We hope not.) [WWD]

So we all know that cropped pants are raging this summer; and that means you have to show off your ankles sans socks (you aren't Michael Jackson, after all).  Word to the wise: don't go sockless. Slippery, sweaty leather is just as gross as the smell that will come from it. [NYT]

Alexander McQueen launches his online store today.  You're only a click away from fur hats, ponchos and, at least, a good pair of boots. For $50 extra, Manhattanites can get their clothes same day if ordered before noon. [WWD]

Karl Lagerfeld Designs Dubai; A New Posterboy for Armani Already?; Gossip Girl Gossip: Ed Westwick To Design His Own Line?; Leo DiCaprio Tells Time for Charity; The Linda Farrow and Yohji Yamamoto Collaboration

75931149 Photo: Getty Images

Karl Lagerfeld is designing a few limited edition homes for Isla Moda, a fashion inspired (and seemingly fashion only) community under construction in Dubai.    [The Cut]

It seems like the Armani underwear ads with Mr. Becks have just reached their boiling point, but the label has already announced their new model for the Fall 08 ads.  His name is Takeshi Kaneshiro, and he is oh so delicious--and also the first Asian model for a major Armani ad campaign.  Hooray for diversity! [Fashionista]

Yes, everyone--another celebrity fashion line.  This time from Gossip Girl cast member Ed Westwick, who plays conniving and annoyingly over-the-top Chuck.  He says he wants to add his "two cents" to the label he wore for his Vanity Fair shoot, which would imply either Thom Browne or Jack Spade.  While we are more intrigued (and way excited) about the rumors that he and Chace Crawford (Nate) are real life lovers, we still have much higher hopes for his collaboration than Perez Hilton for Hot Topic.  Bleh. [Fashionista

Leonardo DiCaprio is working with his favorite watch designer, Jaeger-LeCoultre, to design time pieces for the Time to Care program, as well as develop a couple more to benefit the Leonardo DiCaprio Fund at the California Community Foundation. The timepieces will debut in fall 2008, and all proceeds from the sales will directly benefit the cause.  I'm moved by his initiative, but being that they retail for $300,000-400,000, I'm not feeling so charitable. [Fashion Week Daily]

Known and respected since the 70s, Linda Farrow sunglasses are known for a dark intense aesthetic that continues to peak the interest of the industry and consumers.  Now, the label is set to collaborate with Yohji Yomamoto in a pairing that is as exciting as it is ambiguous. [Refinery 29]

Lighten Up Your Eyewear; Kanye West Teased His New Clothing Line in Paris--Who Knew?; Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte Get Wet; Roberto Cavalli Is Staying Put

81827741 Photo: Getty Images

While we are sometimes uncomfortably aware of the ubiquitous black framed glasses, Sol Moscot is offering their signature frames in a variety of fun, fruity colors such as peacock, cerulean, orchid, and golden olive for the summer.  Note to consumers: the colored frames retail for $220 while the black versions are only $169.  The rainbow road can be rough sometimes, no? [Material Interest]

As when any celebrity attends a designer fashion show, pictures of the notable star in attendance go public in no time, much to the pleasure and gratitude of the lable.  But, it turns out Kanye wasn't galavanting around Paris just to see clothes, but rather to debut his own. Many of the looks he wore throughout the week were actually sneak peek items form his upcoming line, Pastelle. [LA Times]

Olympic medal hopefuls Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte swam a few laps, romped in the shower, and, of course, did it all topless and in speedos for a Men's Journal photo shoot.  It all feels a bit softcore, and we're entirely ok with that.   [Towleroad]

Roberto Cavalli, citing bad market timing, has opted not to sell his company. Stripes, leopard print and paisley forever! [WWD]

A.P.C Hand Me Downs; No Jail Time for Naomi (we're not surprised); NYC Still on Top; Indonesians Embrace "Trashion;" Acne Trends from Sweden Fashion Week

81707743

Photo: Getty Images

Sometimes brand new jeans are just too stiff, and those "vintage" type jeans are just too, well, vintage.  Leave it to denim superstars A.P.C. to develop a middle man.  Newly introduced are their Butler Worn Out series of denim, which are pairs of jeans worn exactly one time before being sold to consumers. [Material Interest

Naomi Campbell will not be going to prison for her violent outburst on a British Airways flight.  Instead she just lands a spread in Vogue Italia.  [WWD] and [Fashionista]

New York City was named, for the fourth year in a row, the best fashion city in the world according to a survey by a U.S.-based language use group.  Like, duh. [tmtbox]

Those ever resourceful Indonesians are using leftover, discarded and found materials to make trendy and affordable garments in a new movement called "trashion."  The bag lady on my corner who drinks bleach told me "homeless-chic" would be all the rage this season.  [MSNBC]

I noted last week that Stockholm was embarking on their annual fashion week as well; and, though noticeably overshadowed by the big boys in Milan and Paris, Acne  S/S 09 showed some muscle in Sweden.  Maybe next year they'll move to the majors? [Material Interest]

Pharrell Williams' Unique Tatoo Removal; A Parisien Shoegasm; Stockholm Fashion Week (yes, it exists); Lagerfeld Still Wants you to Buckle Up; Green Fashion Extreme

78139345 Photo: Getty Images

Laser removal was always enough to deter me from getting a tattoo, but now my thoughts on the whole process might change knowing that I can grow my own skin to cover them up when I'm sick of them, which is what Pharrell Williams is going to do to cover up his ink.  I'll gladly let him be the guinea pig of the procedure first. [British Vogue]

While everyone took a keen note or two on the clothes coming down the runways in Europe, the detail oriented also sought out the fabulous footwear that was carrying those clothes on the catwalk. [Material Interest]

In case anyone cares, here's a tidy play by play of Stockholm Fashion Week. [Hint]

Karl Lagerfeld's body guard, Sébastien Jondeau (and arm candy if there ever was some), escorted him for his couture show bow wearing the bright yellow safety vest Lagerfeld himself wore in the French road-safety campaigns that popped up last month.  I can hear Karl now, "buckle up, beetches." [WWD]

It's no longer enough to simply declare your fashion label eco-friendly; this fall, two companies are launching garment traceability and corporate transparency initiatives through their web sites, allowing consumers to track the production process of their garments.  I love the planet and all, but like I have time to sit and make sure my organic cotton shirt is being sewn together by legal workers with environmentally safe thread.  Save that for those Greenpeace wacks. Pete Wentz Comes OUT

176cover
Photo: David Roemer for Atelier Management

Fall Out Boy frontman, celebrity fashion designer and admitted cross-dresser Pete Wentz graces the cover of Out this month and he doesn't holding back when it comes to dishing about wearing women's clothes, his apparel line for Nordstrom's and being called a fag. To whet the appetite of your inner pop-punk-loving tween, here are some little fashion-related nuggets from the dirty pretty boy in eyeliner's one-on-one interview with Popnography's Shana Naomi Krochmal:

"I feel like gender is very gray -- but people's body types aren't. You just have a shorter crotch on women's jeans than you do on men's jeans. You can appeal to a very small demographic of people by doing both."

"There are some of our items that are specifically designed for women's bodies types, like the 3/4 sleeve or empire waist or cap sleeves. I'll try to wear it and it doesn't work at all -- it's very unflattering to a man's body."

"It does take courage -- there is some kind of mental breakthrough when you are okay to go into a women's dressing room. You're like, I don't really care, I want to wear that thing."

"I don't try on clothes -- I buy both sizes, and I'm pretty wasteful. But the times I have, I'll go into the [women's] dressing room. Lots of times they'll take you to the men's dressing room. They'll start a pile for you, but not near where you're at."

"To me the biggest problem with menswear is it's either really simple or it's like a fashion faux pas. There's more risks taken in women's fashion, and it's far more acceptable."

Pick up a copy of the August issue or click here to read more! And don't miss Pete's fashion outtakes!

Paris Fashion Week Roundup; New Trend from Paris: Man Leggings!; Designer Deejays; Kanye's Mystery Man? And a Shoe Line?!; Brooks and Brown Together Forever

The men's shows in Paris ended yesterday and we're still in a fashion flurry.  Word on the rue is that Galliano's show was not to be missed...for whatever reason. [The Cut]

Photographer Nick Night got out his address book to hit up some of his fabulous designer friends for their "talents" in the deejay booth.  He'll feature some big names (Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Naomi Campbell among others) to spin live on his website, Showstudio.com, starting July 9th.  The thought of Naomi Campbell with an EP in her hand is a scary thought.  Heads could literally roll. [WWD]

Prada had skirts for men last Spring; this season we've already seen man clutches and man wedges; and now, the latest feminine trend to show in Europe? Man leggings.  And I always thought menswear set the trends for womenswear.  Lindsey Lohan must be so excited. [The Cut]

Kanye West was seen around Paris with a mystery fashion friend in tow.  Who could he be?  A female presence has been noticeably absent in Kanye's life, and if the boy finally did finally pick up the bat for the other team, let's hope it's not this guy. [The Cut]

Speaking of Mr. West, he's now reportedly working on his own shoe line with Louis Vuitton, which will be followed by a womenswear line this fall.  Kanye, baby, we're all waiting for you outside that big fashion closet you so resiliently reside in. [Fashionista]

Thom Browne and Brooks Brothers have extended their deal to keep Mr. Browne on as a guest designer until at least 2011 for the Brooks Brothers Black Fleece collection.  He's also expected to reveal plans for a freestanding Black Fleece store in NYC's Greenwich Village.  Wall Streeters now have three more years to look a little bit cooler. Vivienne Westwood Paunches Up The Runway; Smell This: Zirh Ikon; Donatella Versace's Muse: Barrack Obama; Naomi Does Menswear; Rag & Bone Gets Control; The Lates Trends from Milan

81662700 Photo: Getty Images

We love Milan fashion week for the onslaught of gorgeous male models who strut the runway in amazing clothes (and sometimes barely any clothes at all), but Vivienne Westwood turned the stereotypical male model on its head when she sent a balding, middle-aged, beefy, daddy stomping down the catwalk (see photo).  Seriously, I think this guy is my plumber.  [The Cut]

Men's grooming brand Zirh is looking to go from cult classic to household name with the launch of their first fragrance, Ikon.  With a name like that, someone sure has high hopes for themselves. [WWD]

U.S. politics continue their sweep of the world as Donatella Versace dedicates her Spring 09' men's line to Barrack Obama, saying her collection is for "a relaxed man who doesn't need to flex muscles to show he has power." But Miss Versace sure has to flex her marginal world knowledge to show she's not a complete moron. [The Canadian Press]

Naomi Campbell, fresh off her trial for that little incident at Heathrow, walked in Dolce & Gabbana's sleepwear inspired men's Spring 09' runway show.  Nice to see the boys at D&G making an appeal to the transgendered/sexual community. [British Vogue]

Rag & Bone have teased a holiday collection to debut in October that is inspired by the Ian Curtis biopic, Control.  Soon thereafter, they've promised a Manhattan retail location to display looks that delve deeper into the late-seventies and early-eighties U.K. music scene. "Mods, punks, rude boys, suedeheads—they all took their looks very seriously," says codesigner Marcus Wainwright.  And we will also be taking their looks very seriously. [Material Interest]

The most, er, notable? trends for Spring 09 from Milan?  Pajamas and, yes, cinched waists.  Androgyny continues. [Fashionista (2)]

Josh Harnett Takes a Snap For Armani; Marc Jacobs Ditches the Bitches; Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear Hits the Runways in Milan; Smell This: Prada Infusion d'Homme; Smell This, Too: Gucci Pour Homme; The Givenchy Man Hits the Streets

79959844 Photo: Getty Images

Fulfilling reports last month, Josh Harnett can now be seen in the new fragrance campaign for Emporio Armani's Diamonds for Men.  Meant to look like Harnett's being hounded by paparazzi, it comes off as wishful thinking because, really, who's following him around these days? [WWD]

Not only did Marc Jacobs drop the female gliterrati from his ad campaigns, but it looks like he is doing away with female models all together!  For his Fall/Winter 08 collection he shot mens and womenswear on it-boy model Cole Mohr.  With legs like his he should have been the one dangling them from a bag.  Sorry, Posh.  [Models.com]

Men's Spring 2009 ready-to-wear kicks off today in Milan, bringing next year's warm weather trends just as I'm getting ready to beef up my wardrobe with all the looks I saw for fall.  I'll try not to get ahead of myself and stay in season, but Neil Barrett's collection is already pretty inspiring. [Men.Style.Com]

Slated to preview this week during the men's ready-to-wear shows in Milan is Prada's new men's fragrance, Infusion d'Homme.  It hit's counters in September...[WWD]

...And Gucci will be ready with a rebuff. Frida Giannini had crafter her own scent for men that will also go public in September, and, with sales expected to reach $180 to 200 million, Prada better be ready for a throwdown. [WWD]

Creative Director Ricardo Tisci did wonders for womenswear at Givenchy, and now he is taking his eye for detail to his men's looks. “My concept is to design styles for real men. Elegant, sharp, masculine clothes with a twinge of Latino street boy confidence."  Que bueno. [DNR]

80s Fashion Returns (But It's a Good Thing); Cheers for Beckham, Jeers for Lopez; Pharell Williams New Collection; Sneakers for Town and Country; The New Axe Effect

It is your Stylelist's job to report that 80s fashion is, in fact, back.  But, fear not, cast your painful fashion memories of nights at The Palladium and unfortunate prom nights aside.  A few years time has proven helpful in editing out the good trends from the way bad, meaning you won't end up looking like Flock of Seagulls. Pharrell Williams funked up Harvey Nichols last night with the new-season collections of the sportswear lines he co-founded in 2005 with Japanese design star NIGO: Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream.  There was chilled Moet, Mr Chow canapés and...Mischa Barton. Nice to see she's getting out.  Ya know, making friends. [British Vogue]

Axe, who continues to have us believe that their body sprays and washes are meant to seduce hot horny girls, has debuted their rather phallic male body washer The Axe Detailer Shower tool; and we are yet again convinced they're ultimately working for the boys.  [The Moment/NYT]

Smell This: Lalique White; Lab Series for The Sensitive Guy; Not So 'Bespoke' Anymore; Pete Wentz's Shameless Self-Promotion; Steven Alan has Arrived (and early!); New Denim to Snatch Up; Pitti Uomo Gets Underway

81609885 Photo: Getty Images

Though known mostly for their spiffy French crystal, Lalique hasn't done too shabby with their fragrance portfolio, which they're hoping to punch up with the launch of their new men's scent, Lalique White, this fall.  At least the bottle looks cool. [Cosmetic News]

Lab Series Skincare for Men, a brand who can nary do wrong, begins the expansion of their line of sensitive skin products with the release of their Mild Foaming Face Wash.  Set to debut this summer, the wash will retail at $16 a bottle--well worth it for those of us who aren't so keen to "feel the burn" when we wash our faces every morning. [WWD]

Seems those saucy Savile Row tailors from across the pond have got their knickers in a bunch.  Ever dedicated to the term "bespoke" and their ability to craft a perfect suit entirely by hand and without a pre-existing pattern, they are gnashing their teeth now that the term is being allowed to describe suits that take a few shortcuts in the manufacturing process. [The Cut] via [Telegraph UK]

To help get hype up for the fourth annual Fashion Focus in Chicago (the city's answer to New York Fashion Week), Pete Wentz is lending his name and his label to the week's designer lineup. I could make some snarky joke about another celebrity starting their own fashion line, but even that is getting so tired. [WWD]

New Yorkers, mount up.  Steven Alan's Urban Outfitters line has already hit the floor at the Noho store, even though it wasn't set to debut until July 4th! Stop reading and go! [Racked]

Here's three new and noteworthy denim labels to get to before everyone else does. [Refinery 29]

Pitti Uomo, the international melee of brand marketing, often times hints at the next big label in fashion.  Check out Material Interest for a roundup of who and what to keep your eye on.

Peter Thomas' Paralyzing Makeup?; The New 'V Man' is Kind of A Loser; Mario Lopez Snubbed by 2(x)ist; Ralph Lauren to Show in Paris; Croatia Invented the Neck Tie--Who Knew?

80638997 Photo: Getty Images

We all might as well admit that we like to dab a little powder on our faces now and then to cover up unsightly blemishes, dark circles and (gasp!) wrinkles, and now, to better combat the latter, Peter Thomas has announced the launch of a new anti-wrinkle powder in his popular Un-Wrinkle range.  Using a synthetic ingredient called SYN-AKE, the pressed power contains ingredients that act as muscle relaxers who's results are "similar to the paralyzing effects of snake venom." If it's going to stop those crow's feet, then bite me baby. [BellaSugar]

Petey, the winner of V Magazine's latest modeling competition, may have already dropped his last name in a move of pretentious self-promotion, but it's not hard to see through those chiseled abs and glass-cutting cheekbones to the aw-shucks-boy-from-Tennessee inside.  Hedi Slimane may have shot him for the mag, proving yet again that everything he touches turns to fashion gold, but Petey admits not only that Jim Carrey is his biggest hero, but also that he aspired to be on the cover of WWE magazine.  Our advice: shut up and just look pretty, k? Thanks. [The Cut]

It's an all out stage war, bitches!  First, we heard that Mario Lopez was feeling a little inadequate when his cast mate from A Chorus Line, Nick Adams, showed up with better biceps, requesting that Adams wear a long sleeved shirt so as not to upstage Lopez, and now eye-candy underwear company 2(x)ist is cashing in on the controversy by featuring Adams in their latest ad campaign instead of their original choice (you guessed it), Lopez.  We say put the both in the ad campaign and let the battle of the bulge continue.  [NYP]

First John Varvatos goes to Milan with his collection, and now Ralph Lauren is set to take his Purple and Black label to Paris at the end of this month.  We get it--our dollar is weak, our President sucks, and everyone is getting fatter by the minute, but, please! Spare us our fashion dignity! [Haute Concept]

Let's play word association.  Is say "Croatia" and what do you think of?  Right--sexy beaches and land mines.  OK, it turns out the country is famous for something else too: the birth of the neck tie! Croata, one of the countries premiere tie boutiques, is issuing a limited-edition series of designs called the "Croata 4" to hopefully get the world thinking about something other than dismembered (albeit tan) bodies when it comes to their home country. Tom Ford: "Show me some penis!"; The Banana Republic Fragrance Gets an Upgrade; Rogues Gallery Online; New Menswear Line: Conference of Birds; Summer Sunglasses

81375964
Photo: Getty Images

After having penned a recent essay in British GQ about the double-standard against men and nude fashion photography, Tom Ford felt dicked over when the magazine covered the models' members in the accompanying spread he styled with text blocks.  First he designs amazing clothes, then he works hard to show us the goods.  Could he be any dreamier?  [The Cut]

It may not be designer; It may not cost $60 a bottle; and it may just be a little too simple--but the unisex Banana Republic classic fragrance is heavenly, but, with hopes of perfecting perfection, BR will release Classic Limited Edition in limited numbers in stores and online come August.  The improved fragrance promises "more texture and depth as you go from eau de toilette to eau de parfum."  [Style Dash]

Whereas it was sort of fun to get out there and snoop around for coveted pieces from Rogues Gallery, now that most of their collection is available online I find it much more conducive to my lifestyle to just order their amazing polo shirts from my couch.  [Material Interest]

It was hard enough to deal with the influx of American bands with pretentious and often-times erroneous names (Band of Horses, Vampire Weekend, etc.), but now we have to deal with the same trend in American fashion lines.  I blame it on the hipsters.  Nevertheless, newly launched menswear line Conference of Birds (what?) looks to be worth keeping your eye on with pieces described as "a chic sartorial bricolage joining the hard-edged quality of American workwear with the polish of British tailoring...garments also recall rugged hunting pieces as much as they do trim cosmopolitan uniforms." A hipster probably wrote that. [Refinery29]

Cure for Balding?; Steven Alan joins Urban Outfitters; Naomi Campbell with Child?; Roberto Cavalli on the Market; P. Diddy wants David Beckham, Beckham Already has a Dogg

81326440 Photo: Getty Images

It seems those blokes across the pond may have found as close to a cure for balding as ever.  Using “follicular cell implantation” researchers can clone thousands of hairs from just a sample of 100.  Now if they could only get a handle on their dental situation.[Times UK]

Steven Alan is a busy boy.  Not only will he open a Brooklyn store sometime next year, but he is now set to launch a new line with Urban Outfitters called Lark & Wolff.  Victor & Rolf will not be pleased with a cheaper, more accessible ampersand. [The Cut]

The Daily Mail laggingly reported that Naomi Campbell would be replacing Kate Moss as the face of YSL all the while sitting on a golden nugget of information.  That nugget? Naomi Campbell had an operation to become a single mother.  I think it might be time for a priority check over there. [The Daily Mail]

Roberto Cavalli has recently been hinting that he might sell his company, but, if a deal is inked, he says he's not going anywhere. The guy just can't leave his beloved leopard and zebra prints.  [WWD]

P. Diddy recently said in an interview with an Irish newspaper that he'd love to do a fashion line with David Beckham.  "He's a good friend and is very kind. Us two together doing business would be amazing...Perhaps we could collaborate to do something for charity."  Unfortunately for Diddy, Beckham has already been meeting with Snoop Dogg regarding a shoe line.  We advise Diddy that David Beckham, as luscious as he is, is not worth another rapper feud. Sex and the City in The City; Dries Van Noten Gets High Honors; New Fragrance from Kenzo; Eric Dane for Ernst Benz

80925639 Photo: Getty Images

At last, it is upon us.  Sex and the City premiered at Radio City Music Hall last night.  The fab four looked divine. [The Cut]

Next month, Dries Van Noten is set to receive the prestigious CFDA's International Designer of the Year Award.  If you don't know why, please catch up.  "Unconventional classicism" tends to be his theme, and everything from suiting to shoes reminds you of what good clothing should be, but with a little edge to keep it interesting.  But who is the man behind the label? [The Cut]

Kenzo will launch a new men's fragrance come August, appropriately titled Kenzo Power! OK--I added the exclamation point, but I find it appropriate, no? Kenzo Power! [Now Smell This]

Woe the countless hours spent dreaming over McSteamy.  At least now you can sort of wear a piece of him on your wrist.  Eric Dane (seriously, how hot is his name?), along with Mary J. Blige and Russell Simmons have each designed limited edition Ernst Benz watches for Chrysalis, the nonprofit association that helps men and women transition from poverty.  Renderings will be unveiled on May 31st and a few of the time pieces will go on eBay in June.  Indulge a fantasy and help the needy? Score! [WWD]

LL Cool J for Sears; Marc Jacobs Back to Basics; 10 Stylish Vacation Destinations;

80002050 Photo: Getty Images

Being that it was Memorial Day weekend, the entirety of the media world took a little break.  Fire Island was certainly (pun alert) ablaze.  Here's what kept us busy. [Queerty]

LL Cool J is set to launch a clothing line at Sears that industry insiders are claiming will bank $100-150 million in its first year.  Are we missing something?  Hip-hop and ya don't stop, indeed. [WWD]

We've still yet to recover from the creepy Dakota Fanning ads for Marc Jacobs, so we're feeling a little more at ease knowing he's dropping the celebrity endorsements and using models again.  [Fashionista]

FiFi Awards: The Year's Best Scents

81181038 Photo: Getty Images

The Fragrance Foundation held it's 36th Annual FiFi Awards at Manhattan's Park Avenue Armory last night to celebrate the very best in fragrances. It's like the Oscars for the odiferous. I can only imagine that the Armory must have smelled like a brothel with the various fragrances worn by party goers mingling in the air. But hey, no B.O.!

It was a massive event with celebrities (from the B, C and D lists) including Salt-N-Pepa, Bernadette Peters (pictured), Danity Kane, one of the Gossip Girls, Nikki Blonski from Hairspray and Padma Lakshmi from Top Chef. Also in attendance were designers Zac Posen (pictured) and Vera Wang.

Surprisingly, it was a big day for fragrances inspired by athletes. David Beckham and Derek Jeter's scents both took home esteemed awards. Giorgio Armani was another big winner.

One Stylelist insider said that while the open bar and decor of the armory was fabulous, he was a little annoyed that his $1000 ticket didn't include dinner. And all the dainty hors d'Oeuvres didn't hold off the intoxication of the free-flowing booze.

Without further ado....

Here are last night's winners in men's fragrances:

Men's Luxe:

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme — P&G Prestige Products Inc.

Men's Nouveau Niche:

Armani Privé Vetiver Babylone — Giorgio Armani Beauty

Men's Private Label/Direct Sell:

Derek Jeter Driven Black — Avon Products, Inc.

Men's Popular Appeal:

Intimately Beckham Men — Coty

Best Packaging Men's Prestige:

Attitude by Giorgio Armani — Giorgio Armani Parfums

Best Packaging Men's Popular Appeal:

Intimately Beckham Men — Coty

Interior Scent of the Year:

Gump's San Francisco Home Collection (Majestic Range, Treasured Range & Opulent Range) — Latitudes International

Gisele Sued by Carpenter; Duffel bags; Finalists for the VMan/Ford Model Model Search; Canadian Hair Awards (really?); Jeffrey's Stylist Raul Becerra

80999181 Photo: Getty Images

Gisele Bundchen is being sued by a carpenter who was renovating her New York City apartment and had a nasty spill down her staircase which, allegedly, does not have handrails.  Sweetie, if you've got the cash for a New York City apartment with stairs, you might as well make them safe for the mortals, yeah? [United Press International]

Summer is coming, meaning we'll all need a good duffel in case we meet a gorgeous Lothario who will whisk us away to Fire Island or the Hamptons for the weekend.  A boy can dream. [The Upgrader]

The three boys with the best bone structure were announced as finalists for the VMan/Ford Models Model search, though it looks to me like we are about to see another influx of the whole "heroine chic" thing.  Kate Moss would be proud. [Towleroad]

Up above the northern border they have--wait for it--The Best Canadian Celebrity Hair Awards.   Given the winners (Seth Rogan among them), the pickins looked pretty slim. [Stylebell]

Bluefly "Tailored" for Men; Marc Jacobs the next Andy Warhol?; Gen Arts Who's Who; White Shoes for Summer

80999274 Photo: Getty Images

Not that anyone really cared that Bluefly was a unisex website, but it's still nice to see the launch of The Tailor, a site outfitted specifically for us dapper men who still love a bargain on a good suit.  [The Cut]

Despite his party lifestyle, his non-stop art collaborations, his bed-hopping, and his self-obsession, Marc Jacobs claims he is not, in fact, the next Andy Warhol.  Interview magazine begs to differ (and I might too).  [WWD]

Speaking of MJ's wishy-washy sex life, it seems he's back with Jason Preston...for now. [Queerty]

Tonight is the GenArt's 10th Anniversary Styles Fashion and Awards show (sponsored by Botox no less), which will promise to feature a number of worthy up-and-coming designers, including Hyden Yoo.  Considering he started his line with $50,000 he won on Fear Factor after sucking a goat's teat (all in a days work, right?) I think he deserves a shot. [Material Interest]

Clinique Skin Supplies for Men Targets Wrinkles; Tom Ford's New Eyewear; Harry's of London Goes Online; Diddy's "Viagra"

80876050 Photo: Getty Images

Although I started moisturizing when I was 14 and can confidently say it's helped my skin stay young and fresh, that doesn't mean my eyes aren't peeled for the next miracle anti-aging product. (Someone actually told me I was too old for them over the weekend. I don't want to talk about it). Clinique Skin Supplies for Men is set to launch an anti-aging line in September. [DNR]

Tom Ford is sexy as all hell, which means he get can get away with a lot.  But $2,200 sunglasses?  At that price they better come with a five-course meal and some, ahem, dessert from the man himself. [Material Interest]

Harry's of London, known for their rakishly stylish British footwear, opens up shop online for the first time. [Material Interest]

Diddy tells CBS News that his label, Sean Jean, is "fashion Viagra."  He continues: "I’ve had 40 year-old men tell me that once they started wearing Sean Jean, everything changed for them, [including] their sex life."  He assumes for the better--we're skeptical.   [Perez Hilton-- SETH PLATTNER

Passing Judgment: Brad Pitt in Tom Ford

81097135

Photo: Getty Images

Brad Pitt stepped out with a very pregnant Angelina Jolie in Cannes today looking quite dapper and a little Clooney-esque. He worked the red carpet in a made-to-measure, black, two-piece, notch-lapel wool suit with a white shirt, a black silk jacquard tie and a pair of black cap-toe leather shoes, all by Tom Ford's Menswear Collection. The power couple attended the Kung Fu Panda premiere at the 61st Cannes International Film.

Agyness Deyn keeps rocking; The Project Runway/Nina Garcia saga continues; Josh Harnett hems Armani; Dov Charney - Retailer of the Year; 15 Spring Bags for Guys; Posh and Her Gaggle of Gays

79959844 Photo: Getty Images

After her cute but nonetheless paltry collaboration with Five O'Clock Heroes on the song "Who," Agyness Deyn is now commanding the spotlight in her own newly formed band with friends Alanna Materson and Jackson Pollis.  This ball is rolling perhaps a little too fast. [British Vogue]

We're all admittedly a little tired of the hoopla going on between Nina Garcia and Project Runway, but, alas, it all readily determines the existence and survival of the greatest reality show on television.  Turns out negotiations are still churning, and ELLE is putting up a bit of a fight with Marie Claire for sponsorship.  En garde! [WWD]

Just announced: Josh Harnett will be the face of the new Armani men's fragrance Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men.  Good to see he is getting some work these days. [Fashionista

Dov Charney, Creative Director and entrepreneur of pseudo-pornographic obsessed label American Apparel, was just named Retailer of the Year.  Considering the guy looks like the type who would roll up in a converter van and ask you to film a few tasteful scenes in the back, it's surprising the award has previously gone to the likes of Calvin Klein and Oscar de la Renta. J. Lo's Desire for you; The Australian Denim boom continues; John Galliano Coming to America; Don't F*ck with Loro Piana

80077059 Photo: Getty Images

Ever wondered what desire smells like?  Well, J. Lo is going to enlighten you.  Coming this fall is her first men's fragrance called Deseo, Spanish for--you guessed it--desire.  Quq marvillosa. [WWD]

First Kanye teams up with cult Australian denim brand Ksubi, and now yet another denim line from down under is set to make waves stateside.  Oy! This fall expect to see a big roll-out from the premium label Denim & Thread, a paired down, yet chic-as-ever collection that emphasizes the simple classic jean. [Material Interest]

John Galliano will make a quick sweep across the pond this week to, first, unveil his Dior cruise collection and then accept an award from the Savannah College of Art & Design.  But, don't expect that to be the last you'll see of him stateside; with all his talk of American inspiration and adventure, the mustachioed one is sure to come back for more. [WWD]

We've all tried to pass off a fake as real at some point in our fledgling fashion lives, but don't expect Loro Piana to let you get away with it so easily.  Clearly obsessed with authenticity, the famed luxury brand will now sew metal rings into their garments, each with an engraved serial number for tracking and verification.  Sounds like LP's got its own Big Brother.[Fashionista] -- SETH PLATTNER

Perez Hilton for Hot Topic: Say it Ain't So!

81020197

Perez and a look from his line for Hot Topic. Vom! All Photos: Getty Images

Celebrity fashion designers have gone too far. I officially call for a moratorium on any further collaborations, collisions, and catastrophes in which a celebrity decides to try his or her well-manicured hand at fashion design. The nail in the coffin? Perez Hilton announced that he is launching a fashion line. Yes, that Perez Hilton—the only Hilton more annoying than Paris.

Who will carry the line? Why, Hot Topic, of course, the tacky mall retailer responsible for hawking band t-shirts, black nail polish and pseudo-gothic wares for the tween set.

So what makes Perez worthy of a fashion line? The guy writes about celebrity gossip and draws penises and cocaine residue on photos with the artistry of a crayon-wielding preschooler. He's not exactly and arbiter of good taste or style. I mean, I read Perez everyday and I adore his blog, but I think people should do what they do best. Journalists should stick to reporting, bloggers should keep on blogging, celebrities should stick to the stage and screen, and fashion designers should cut and sew.

Nina Garcia's New Gig; D&G's New Fragrance; Flower Power for Men; Perez Hilton for Hot Topic; Valentino Premiere's at Cannes

80999223 Photo: Getty Images

Though she was recently seen exiting Hearst Tower leading many to speculate Nina Garcia was in talks to take a position at Harper's Bazaar, sources now say Garcia is all but hired in a major position at Marie Claire with the rumored ousting of fashion director, Tracey Taylor. [Fashion Week Daily]

Having known for months that Matthew McConaughey would be the face of the Dolce & Gabanna's new fragrance, The One for Men, we've been eager to know what was in store for our good ol' olfactory sense.  Well, the new scent has been revealed and it smells exactly how you would think McConaughey would—but then again, McConaughey's own eau du B.O. doesn't have a great reputation. [Now Smell This]

We've been wanting to don a huge blooming flower on our shoulder ever since season 2 of Sex and the City when Carrie Bradshaw so brazenly floralized every outfit she owned.  Our gut told us it wasn't quite the time for such a move, but, praise be to Prada, GQ (albeit the British version) gives us the green light. [The Cut]

Hot on the tail of Karl Lagerfeld and his fashion documentary Lagerfeld Confidential, Valentino Garavani is set to premiere his own in depth feature at the Cannes Film Festival entitled Valentino: The Last Emperor.  Though it sounds promising, there is one thing Lagerfeld will always have over Valentino--the bulge.
