Inspired by Out's new September issue featuring man's man Neil Patrick Harris on the cover, we thought we'd take the opportunity to give you a few quick tips for brilliantly butching up your closet.

Not everyone looks as comfortable and sexy as Steve McQueen in a pair of leather pants, but somehow Neil Patrick Harris does just fine. The key is that they need to have that weathered and worn look, which gives the impression that they’ve actually ever seen the back of a motorcycle. These brown and dusty A|X Armani Exchange riding pants do just the trick.
Although American classics never really go completely out of style, the jean jacket does seem to have its high and low points. This dark-rinse jacket by Diesel appears classic but its detailing -- like seams and pocket placement -- are entirely new and fresh.
Nothing finishes off a basic white T-shirt and jeans outfit better than a little attitude, a great walk, and a fantastic pair of John Varvatos brown leather zip-up boots.
Finally, don’t be afraid to do denim on denim –- just don’t overdo it by getting all matchy-matchy. A little variation in rinse and color or an entirely contrasted combination can break up the look just enough.
To see the full Neil Patrick Harris cover shoot, head over to Out.com or hit up your favorite local bookstore.
Having waited a year for Yohji Yamamoto's diffusion line, Coming Soon, we can now stop fretting our perfectly coiffed heads and finally get our hands on a few of the pieces that have hit NYC store Odin. It's been a limited roll out thus far, but expect to see more pieces hit more stores by 2009. [The Cut]
The (Capsule) New York trade show is going on now in New York, alluding to a few items we'll all likely be wearing next spring (because we are so ahead of the curve, you know). [Material Interest]
Ashton Kutcher is getting back to his modeling roots in the Pepe Jeans Fall ad campaign. Yes, funny can be sexy, but a hot man in nice clothes is always sexy. [Towleroad]
Not long ago your Stylelist reported the looming (re)trend of thermochromatic t-shirts (that's Hypercolor for all you 80's kids). Well, never ones to miss out on a hipster trend, American Apparel has their own version for only $34! Now all I need to do is dig around in my closet for those acid-washed jeans of mine...[Fabsugar]
Tumi is expanding its T-tech line with a full outerwear and bags. Perfect, because a wrinkle-resistant cotton blazer is just what my monthly camping trips have been missing. [DNR]
Renzo Rosso, the big guy behind Diesel, has acquired a major stake in darling Dutch design team, Viktor & Rolf. A huge merger to say the least, the possibilities are exciting, as long as Rosso doesn't get to carried away with the overly-edged Diesel aesthetic. [WWD]
Have Daniel and Wesley of this season's Project Runway found themselves in their own runway romance? According to their MySpace pages, they just might have. [Towleroad]
Ever since Hedi Slimane left the helm of Dior Homme, rumors have been flying about his next big foray into fashion. Will he return to LVMH? Is he launching his own line? Is Hedi Slimane (who was spotted in Soho last weekend by your Stylelist) collaborating with Diesel? WWD reports today that Diesel rumors might be closer to reality than good old fashioned gossip. Today's issue says, "Diesel may be preparing to launch a Red Collection to be designed by Slimane." [WWD, British Vogue]

Tom Ford, superstar designer and quite possibly the sexiest man in fashion, designed the costumes for Santa Fe Opera’s production of The Letter. Ford is currently building a home in the area, so designing the clothes was the neighborly thing to do, right? [Queerty]
Diesel is taking its motto "For Successful Living" to new heights. If you "live in jeans," the company makes it easier to live the Diesel lifestyle.
This month, Diesel unveils its first home collection at Milan’s international furniture show “Salone Internazionale del Mobile.” "Successful Living from Diesel" offers a collection of textiles—such as bed linens, blankets and towels—that are designed with Diesel's irreverent attitude under the creative direction of Wilbert Das. Think bold, fluorescent hues, creative prints, metallic touches and a whole lot more.
Textiles are Diesel's first foray into home design and the company plans to offer lighting, furniture and other home accessories by 2009. The collection will arrive in Diesel stores and department stores in September.
Because your Laura Ashley bedding isn't going to impress anyone.
The 80s are back in their fluorescent and crimped glory and Diesel is leading the way with its Spring/Summer collection. The runway presentation was an unadulterated love letter to the age when Electric Youth, Culture Club and hair bands reigned supreme.
Neon accents and 80s style are major trends this season and what better way to pay homage to the glamorous hypercolor era than a pair of neon kicks that channel a little wild b-boy style. We love Diesel's Playground high top sneaks. We love them so much, that they make us feel like this:
An intrepid Out.com Stylelist reader visited Buenos Aires recently and noticed this peculiar Diesel ad taped to a tree with other community announcements of lost cats and language lessons. It has the same style as a personal ad in the back of a local newspaper that makes you feel a little curious and a little dirty at the same time.

Diesel unveiled it's much-anticipated higher-end Black Gold collection to much fanfare yesterday on the runways in Bryant Park.
In a pared down presentation, the collection, designed under the creative direction of Wilbert Das, was displayed on a stormy gray runway with real photographers on one end and a wall of fake paparazzi—complete with flashing strobe lights to mimic the flashbulbs—on the other.
Overall, the collection was a love letter to the 80s with a Mad Max twist, and included soft lines, voluminous silhouettes, tons of layering, awesome subtle detailing, neutral colors, oversize shirts and coats, and denim-on-denim looks. Most obvious in the mens looks were the elongated silhouettes of long, untucked shirts and knitwear (cardigans and plunging v-neck sweaters). It was a mature collection in the way that it that it focused on subtle details, hidden hardware and a reserved color palette.
Diesel Black Gold is a fantastic collection that truly captured Diesel's subversive and irreverent style for a higher-end customer that appreciates edgier, fashion-forward looks but doesn't necessarily want to dress a young 20-something.
Diesel loves to push the envelope and this Spring, their latest style of jeans features a new slouchy silhouette that is sure to raise a few eyebrows. The oversize "Yoka" jean features a cinched and pleated, "paper bag" waist—leaving a little extra denim above the belt.
What do you think? Has Diesel pushed the envelope too far or seen the future of denim fashion?
Infectious viral videos spreading through YouTube are all the rage in advertising these days but it's rare for a major fashion brand to hop onto the bandwagon. Unless of course, you're Diesel, a company that is known for its inventive (and sometimes absurd) marketing tactics. Remember Denim Dating?
In the video above, the Italian brand remixed a cheeseball instructional disco dance video to advertise their Freezy Sneakers. Somehow, through some CGI or editing brilliance, they managed to outfit the instructor in Diesel sneakers while he shook his hip-thrusting groove thang.
I think I had a flashback from my rave days in high school...only I was stuck in a retirement home where everyone was popping Viagra.
I'd love to see what Diesel's ad agency could do for the "Leave Britney Alone" video. Maybe they could turn it into a "Get Hairapy" commercial for Sunsilk.
Meet fashion's newest odd couple. Dior's John Galliano teams up with Diesel to design a line for kids? A match made in heaven? [WWD, sub req'd]

Rumor has it that Giles Deacon could be chosen to resurrect the design house of visionary surrealist Elsa Schiaparelli? Yes, please! [Vogue UK]
Kanye West is entering into the business of bling. At Wednesday night's Givenchy presentation, he was spotted wearing a "gold Manga-style diamond-studded pendant," says WWD, that was designed by West and Takashi Murakami. Bling is so five years ago. [WWD]
Roberto Cavalli will design the costumes for the Spice Girls reunion tour. Thank God the rumors that David Beckham would stitch the outfits himself were falsies—just like Posh's boobs (so they say)! [Vogue UK]
Calvin Klein dishes to Vogue Hommes International about his feelings about the clothes sold under his name, and his interest in pursuing architecture. I mean, designing buildings can't be any harder than designing a chic dress, right? [WWD]
The London Moped Gang strikes again! FrostFrench is the latest victim in a string of high-end boutique robberies including Luella, Marc Jacobs, Roger Vivier and Brora. The bandits nabbed thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. At least they have good taste in clothes. [Vogue UK]
Tonight's Diesel runway presentation was a love letter to more acid pop times, when Boy George and Jem and the Holograms reigned supreme. The 80s are back in a big way with fluorescent pink, yellow and green accenting the classic gray, black and white color palette. Once again, the "pop of color" is going to be another trend next spring (yawn!).
Ranging from black leather jackets over layered white and fuschia shirts to gray one-piece, sleeveless and studded gray jumpsuits, the collection was refreshingly free of logos. A few pieces were even reminiscent of Hedi Slimane.
Overall, it was wonderfully clean (pun intended, boxes of Diesel detergent were placed on every seat as spectators filed in and the runway backdrop read "squeaky clean!") and included a small dose of Diesel's sometimes-wacky flavor (see the onesy). While the menswear lacked the envelope-pushing futurism and originality of the women's clothes, they were incredibly wearable and simple to mix and match.
Was that Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Natasha Bedingfied and Eric Balfour sitting front row? See the photo (and more of the collection) after the jump!
It seems that the fine folks at Diesel have caught Transformers- fever! The company's new Puzzle Shoe is a brilliant example of their robo- obsession.
The low-top easily transforms Voltron-style into a high-top or boot by lacing together the two additional pieces. Dial it up to a serious 10-eye boot or keep it casual with an 8-eye high-top or 6-eye sneaker that any skater will admire.
The mix of black leather and patent leather is equal parts punk rock and futuristicglam—so it fits in with some of the season's biggest trends. Dior Homme also offers a high-top sneaker that is similar to the boot style, but it is not convertible.
Let's face it, some outfits require serious standout footwear.
If you're not a shoe fanatic and only buy one pair of sneakers this season, these versatile sneaks could instantly expand your shoe collection by leaps and bound in just one swipe of the plastic. You're getting six shoes in one!

Dating can be so complicated these days—especially for gay men. Not only must you worry about your date living up to his well-lit and art directed photos, but he has to be your sexual compliment (a catcher to your pitcher, etc.), meet your criteria for career, hold similar beliefs about romance and relationships—and look good at your side. Luckily, Diesel hopes to help out with that last bit by offering a style-oriented dating service, Denim Dating.
While it might sound odd at first, it's important for boyfriends to look good together and having a similar style can certainly help. Besides, if you find someone who wears the same size pair of Zathans, then you can won't have to worry about packing an overnight bag each time you stay at his house. And let's be honest, don't you know a few gay men who date guys that look just like them?
Take this opportunity to find your style soul mate at Diesel.com.
Gay men love fashion, and fashion loves gay men. Is it something in our jeans? Celebrating this long tradition, Stylelist exists to offer advice, tips, and the occasional catty observation on celebrity style coups and faux pas.
