Smell This: Wolfgang Joop; dVb Drama Contiues!; Hedi Slimane to Design His Own Line?; Thom Browne's Ankles Draw Stares; Garrett Neff Will Show You His Calvin's ; The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Nominees

After a seven year hiatus from the scent business, Wolfgang Joop announced he will release a new fragrance in the fall.  It will have notes of coriander, vetiver, sandalwood, cinnamon, and patchouli, meaning you'll smell minty fresh.  [WWD]

They're in, they're out, they're in, and now, officially, they're out.  L.A. boutique Kitson finally got their story straight and said they are dropping Victoria Beckham's men's denim line from dVd because of poor demand.  In related news, they are also dropping Lauren Conrad's line as well, but, honestly, who didn't see that coming? [The Cut]

Hedi Slimane is mulling over his fashion comeback and it could involve--wait, are you ready?--his own menswear line!  I think I just peed a little...[The Cut] via [WWD]

Thom Browne apparently ruffled some conservative feathers when he wore his signature highwater pants to a reception at the White House hosted by Laura Bush for the winners of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards.  One witness said he drew "more than a few stares," especially from guardsman. It's always fun to watch the righties squirm, isn't it? [WWD]

Perma-hottie Garrett Neff is starring in Calvin Klein's new underwear campaign.  Though David Beckham he isn't, he's still just delicious. [British Vogue]

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Nominees were announced yesterday, and among the ten were a few menswear designers: Richard Chai; Alejandro Ingelmo; John Patrick of Organic; and Swaim and Christina Hutson of Obedient Sons.  Remember those names, boys.  [Material Interest]

No Love For Posh's Men's Denim Line; Marc Jacobs--Denied!; Hedi Slimane The Muse; Showing Some Ankle the Right Way; Alexander McQueen Online

Despite the continued success of Rock n' Republic denim, it turns out retailers aren't quite as excited about Victoria Beckham's men's line from her other denim collection, dVb.  Retailers are unwilling to stock the baggier, more casual denim because of poor sales and her shoddy promotions.  Put her husband in those jeans with an oiled body and no shirt--we'll pick up a few pairs then. [This Is London]

Marc Jacobs rolled into the 303 Gallery in Chelsea apparently looking "scruffy and homeless," according to the employee who asked him to leave when he didn't recognize him.  Though Jacobs left without any hoopla, the poor low-level staffer was fired on the spot when the owner found out. [NYP]

While Hedi Slimane has always been a muse of sorts for us, he is now the inspiration behind the debut issue of Vogue Homme in Japan.  However, it doesn't stop there.  Not only is the 20-page spread being modeled after his own skinny boyish type model, but he is also photographing the whole thing for the magazine. Does this man ever stop? (We hope not.) [WWD]

So we all know that cropped pants are raging this summer; and that means you have to show off your ankles sans socks (you aren't Michael Jackson, after all).  Word to the wise: don't go sockless. Slippery, sweaty leather is just as gross as the smell that will come from it. [NYT]

Alexander McQueen launches his online store today.  You're only a click away from fur hats, ponchos and, at least, a good pair of boots. For $50 extra, Manhattanites can get their clothes same day if ordered before noon. [WWD]

Vuitton's New Old Bag; Lagerfeld Quotables; A Million Little Fashionable Art Works; Posh To Enter Reality

Louis Vuitton snaps Captain Jack Sparrow Rolling Stone legend Keith Richards for its latest round of ads. Unfortunately, Richard's leathery skin looks like it could use the LV treatment. Hopefully the luggage holds up better. [Bloomberg]

Karl Lagerfeld always says the darnedest things and I love him for it. In Prestige Magazine, he quips:  "I consider myself a kind of Ferrari, so I take care of myself." [Fashionista]

In a strange meeting of fashion literature and art, Andy Spade (hubby of Kate Spade) teamed up with A Million Little Lies Pieces author James Frey and Bill Powers to open an art gallery in the Lower East Side. [Fashion Week Daily]

Just when you thought you'd seen enough of David and Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham, Marie Claire UK reports that Posh is in talks to star in her own fashion-focused reality TV show with the working title, "Fashion Nightmares." Judging Project Runway's finale was just the beginning for her takeover.  [Fashionista]

Posh to Guest Star on Ugly Betty

PoshspicePhoto: Getty Images

Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham, wife of soccer hottie David Beckham, will lend her fantastic acting skills to an upcoming episode of Ugly Betty. She will play the role of the waifish soccer mom/pop star/dVb fashion designer Victoria Beckham. I hope she has done her research. Do you think she's a method actor? I wonder if she'll design her own dVb branded bridesmaid dress.

Posh will play bridesmaid to Mode fashion editor Wilhelmina Slater (played by the brilliant Vanessa Williams) during her nuptials to Bradford Meade (played by Alan Dale).

The new season of Ugly Betty premieres Thursday, September 27th at 8:00pm on ABC. Start the countdown!

Friday Fashion Round Up!

Karl Lagerfeld teams up with Coty to unleash a signature line of fragrances. We can't wait! Soon you too can smell like an eccentric, designer who is older than dirt (but his clothes are trés chic!) and you don't have to wear high-collared shirts, carry a fan, or pop seaweed pills. [WWD, subscription]

David and Victoria Beckham (sorry for the multiple Beckham posts recently) take to the pages of W magazine for one damn hot, scantily-clad photo shoot to celebrate their arrival in the States. [Style.com]

Peter Thomas Roth's latest eye cream contains synthesized snake venom. Is it just another snake oil full of false promises or an anti-aging miracle worker? You decide! [HOMMEgrooming]

John McCain blames his failing campaign for the presidency on "gay sweaters" his handlers convinced him to wear. If only it took a few sweaters to bring down the Republican party. [Radar via Popnography]

Victoria Beckham's Fashion Line Gets Slammed

PoshspicePhoto: Getty Images

Victoria Beckham's freshly-birthed denim and sunglasses line, dVb was ripped into pricey shreds by Posh Spice's former boss, Robert de Keyser, founder of Dekeyser Fashion, who sold Rock and Republic's during Posh's designing stint at the company.

De Keyser called the designs "tacky" and told The Sun "
"The new Beckham range appears to be seriously overpriced for a line made out of a cheap fabric." Ouch!

Shortly after de Keyser's comments, and somewhere between her hot hubby's final game for Real Madrid, filming her "Coming to America" reality TV show, and rehearsing for the Spice Girls Reunion tour, the designer forever known as Posh, attended a fete at New York City's Four Season's to celebrate the launch of dVb at (the actually posh) Saks Fifth Avenue (click for photos!). I'm exhausted just typing all of that.

Perhaps dVb isn't so posh after all.
